I know that I have taken long with out writing any thing here. Sorry. Here are some photos to see what has been happening.
This is our house in the village.
Finally got the roof on and we are ready to go for Christmas.
Abijah is as cute as always.

Bath time. They love the water.

Promotion day for Charis Bible College at the
Serena Hotel in Kampala. We have finished a full year now. We were also blessed by a scholarship that finished paying our school fees of 1.3 million shillings ($590).
We had a miracle the other night and mushrooms started to grow. They sure were good eating. Zach would have loved them.

So that is a bit of what is happening. We are also seeing how to rap up the end of the term and school year. There is two and a half weeks remaining. The kids are doing exams as well as learning dances for the parents day on the 4th of December.
We are also working on getting the house in order for my mom to come and visit. All the small things that we have been putting off that we are catching up on now. We even have bought a shower curtain and a toilet seat so that the bathroom will be "usable".
Well let me promise to write again soon that I will not get so behind. Thank you all for your prayers and support. You are all a blessing to us and this ministry as well.

October Happenings

OCTOBER HAPPENINGS FROM UGANDA
OUR FAMILY

It has been such a busy month. Abijah and Lydia celebrated their 2nd birthday on the 3rd and it was so much fun. Up to now they are still singing Happy Birthday songs. They are really big girls now and have even moved to big girl beds, well mattresses on the floor till we can buy frames.
We were able to scrap up enough money to pay the house rent for the next three months, but have not yet paid water or electricity. We are just praying that they will not cut us off, but be patient till we get some money.
Update also on the babies that we got from the prison. The little girl, Betty, is doing great at school. She did not adjust very well to our house, but has done great in the boarding house and attending school every day. The mother is coming out of the prison on the 4th of December so we will see what will happen. We are planning to go for a visit on the 27th of November. And the baby, Moses, has been doing great in our home and Abijah and Lydia love having a baby in the house. We found out that he is a bit older then what we were told, he is like five months and is sitting up and even wanting to learn to crawl. We have even started to feed him food and he loves that.
KAMPALA KING’S SCHOOL

Even at school it has been a busy month. On the 14th on October we took the students on a tour/field trip. There were 70 students who went as they had to pay some little money and not all the children were able. We went to the airport, meteorologist center, zoo, and the beach. It was a long day, but we had a really great day.
Some not so good news too is that we lost a few teachers. It was their choice to go and you can’t hold some one who wants to leave. We are a bit short staffed right now, but the term is almost over so we are just going to push through these last few weeks and hire at the beginning to the next term.
KING’S DISCIPLESHIP CHURCH

This month we have been giving a chance to others to try preaching as we are trying to find an assistant pastor to be helping out. Some of the people have the ability, but they are lacking teachings in the truth. It takes time to teach grace and not judgment, which is what is taught in the churches here.
The over all greatest thing that I have learned from the Bible College has been that God is not looking at our sins or shortcomings. God is looking at Jesus and what he did for us on the cross. We have been give God’s righteousness and that can never be taken away from us and born again believers in Jesus. This truth has brought me so much peace and confidence to just love God as my father and trust him for all that I need.
Love you all and sending you blessings.

October 29th

Friday. I know that everyone always says thank God for Friday's, but that is not what was on my mind this Friday. We had quite the eventful day.

Abijah and Lydia got to take an outing. Some would think this is not such a fun outing, but they were excited about it. They got to go to the hospital for immunizations. Well maybe they liked it because they did not get a shot. As they are 2 years, the only thing that they were given was Vitamin A and de-worming meds. They thought that it was fun.

After we finished there we went next door to the Babies Home where Lydia was from. They were so surprised to see her and happy that she is looking so healthy and is so smart/bright. They were surprised at her English and understanding. We visited here age mates and they are far behind developmentally. I thank God that we are doing good for her. It was an encouragement to know that we are doing a great job by her. They also tried to give us a new baby, a boy. We had to tell them that we are having a baby at home now that we are not needing another one just yet. They really trust us.

I have a burden.

There is something that I am having a burden to share with everyone and I just pray that you will except it well and be blessed.

Some one once told me when I was just starting my missionary journey that as a missionary you are not meant to be in lack or need, but the body of Christ is to come along side and help you out. I am so ready to see this happen. I am so thankful for all the people who have given in any way and am not trying to forget them.

I really believe that God has called me into this time and place for a reason. For the past almost three years my husband and I have been running a school and a church as full time missionaries. Mid way through this year I started to feel like I was not doing enough as my dreams and desires were not fulfilled in the school or church. My heart is so burdened for babies who are abandoned or suffering unjustly. I poured out my heart to God and asked Him when my time will come to receive some of these babies. I just want to insert here that babies are thrown away every day just like any other garbage. I was talking with my friend Nicole who is a Canadian who is also married here in Uganda, and she was telling me of a time in her home town on Canada a baby was thrown in the garbage can. The who town was in an uproar. They couldn't believe that something like that would happen in a modern place. Here is Uganda it is a different story. Children of all ages are thrown away at all times of the night and day.

My dreams began to unfold about 3 weeks ago. We were told of two children that were living in prison with their mothers, but needed to get out of there. One a girl of almost 3 years and a boy of 4 months. The moment that I heard this I just said yes. God had opened a door. On October the 2nd we went to the prison and picked these kids. My life has not been the same. I feel like I an just in the center of God's will for me at this time.

But now you may be asking why I started out talking about support only to talk at length about my desire and dreams. I am not wanting my dreams and desires to stop at just these two children form the prison. There is so much more that needs to be done. To take care of these children we are needing more support. I have always hated to ask for money. However we are needing to buy formula and baby cereal, clothes, and make sure that these children are taken care of well. In addition the taking care of these children and others as they come, we are also needing to sustain our house. We struggle just to pay the rent and water and electricity with the support that we get. In the past month or so we have had some things break and they are sitting up to now without repair.

I don't want to beg for money, but if you are touched in any way by this and feel like God is directing you in any way please answer. If you are in the USA you can send a check to 8744 Hwy73, Angora, MN 55703. Any where else in the world Western Union works great. Our emails are butterflyfreedom7@gmail.com and kepdave@yahoo.com .

Thank you for reading and I just pray that you are blessed.

October 15 Tour with school

Well yesterday was quite the eventful day. We went on the very first tour/field trip as a school. The children had to pay some little money so not the whole school went, but we had a very good turn out. There were 70 students including the boarding students. So we piled them all into a bus and we were off. We got a bit of a late start so we were late getting to our first appointment.

First stop was the Entebbe International Airport. A had forgotten that there were many who had never entered the airport before. It was fun to see all their excitement. We saw planes landing and taking off.

Next we went to the Meteorologist center, which is next to the airport. They talked about the wind, sun, rain fall, clouds, and such. Things that children will be asked on the exams. This was the educational part of the tour. The worst part was that there was some wasps there and one girl got stung, but she was okay.

Now comes the fun part of going to see the animals at the wildlife center or as we call it the zoo. The kids really loved this part and also teachers as some had never see some of these animals in really life. There was camels for riding for those who sent some extra money. David also went for a ride and enjoyed himself. Time was going so fast and we had not yet eaten lunch so children were getting tired.

So we moved on to the last stop, which was the beach on Lake Victoria. Here we had lunch and just played for a short time. Abijah and Lydia came with there swimming suits and enjoyed so much the water. By the time we finished it was coming to 6:00 pm, the time that we were meant to be back at home. So the last count of kids was done and we did not loose any, so we headed home.

It was a great day and so much fun.

October 13

Well, I guess that I have been a bit busy this week that I have not had the time to write here. I can't even say that there is so much going on, just life. Have been so exhausted that I fall asleep every night of Bible College. Trying to see what to do about that and trying to get some naps in.

On Monday night we had a visitor from South Africa stop by. She was the leader of the HIV/AIDS school that I attended in South Africa in 2007. Nice to see her and catch up on all that has been happening in both of our lives.

Update on the babies too. Moses is doing great and is such a happy baby. He has learned to sit on his own and that makes everything easier. Started to give him some tastes of food and trying to see what else to give him. He likes it. Betty on the other hand, is scared of both David and I. What is good is that she loves being at school and also living in the boarding house. Just pray for her.  I know that she is missing her mom and that it is not very easy for her.

Birthday Party.

This is also a bit late, but want to say Happy Birthday to Abijah and Lydia and congradulations for turning two years old. We had a great day and a wonderful party. The party began from 5:00 pm and we just had cake and soda and had the girls open gifts. There were many people here, I think like a hundred, but my numbers may be off as I was so busy seeing that all things were going well. Abijah and Lydia had a fun time and there was not melt downs eather.
I wanted to put some photos, but it is not working now. For you who are on Facebook you have see and know that we had a great day.

September Happenings

SEPTEMBER HAPPENINGS FROM UGANDA
Sorry this is a bit late. We have been very busy and you will see why.
OUR FAMILY

As a family we are thankful to God that we are all well and safe. Earlier in the month both David and Heather had a small spell with malaria, but thankfully we are fine now and also happy that the girls did not face any of that. But the mosquitoes have been so bad and we are not sure why. The gardens are growing so well of maize (corn) and G-nut (peanuts), so we are happy with that.

On the 2nd of October we paid a visit to a prison in Masaka, a town about 3 hours outside of Kampala, with a fellow student from the Bible College. This was my first time to visit a prison, even though I have gone to many countries, but not prisons. What was taking us is that there were two babies who were there with the mom’s, but were not getting the care that they needed. Betty is a girl who is almost three years and has only known the life of the prison. Her mom wants her to go to school and that is how she got connected with us as we have a school. Pray for her as she is having a hard time to ajust to our house, but she loves to be at school. The second baby is just 3 months old and needed to get out of the prison because the mom is HIV+ and can’t breastfeed and there is not way to get milk for the baby. So Moses is also here with us. These babies are here just while the mom’s are in prison, till December for Betty and January for Moses. After the mom’s are released we will evaluate and see what will be best for the babies. So we are busy these days, but getting used.
KAMPALA KING’S SCHOOL

The second term began on the 6th of September. All the students were so happy to come back because of the play ground and other blessings that we had during the holiday. All but one teacher returned, but we have already replaced him and so that children will not miss any studying.

I, Heather, have also become a teacher. I have gone back to school to teach Art. I have ever done this before and the students were so happy that I have come back.

We have had around a dozen new students this term, but are waiting for the beginning of the new year to really see a large increase of students.

Another blessing, well we are seeing it as a blessing as it has not happened for the whole year, is that the teachers are all paid up to date. This has helped us so much to have peace in the school too.
KING’S DISCILPESHIP CHURCH

I think that this is where I am going to talk about Simon. I am not sure really where to put him as he is in Family, School, and Church. Simon is a friend of David, who studied together and was in YWAM together and is also from Mayuge (the village). So he has come and is living in the small house that is behind our house and doing any thing and every thing in the ministry. He has been such a blessing and we are now free if we need to step away from the ministry for a day or two because we can trust him to keep things rolling.
I also want to share my favorite lesson that we have learned in the Bible College. This is something that we learned a long time ago, but I still love to think on it and remember that it is so true. We are one third completely perfect. When we invite Jesus to take over our lives, He enters our spirit and our Spirit is then complete only in Him. It is our soul and our body that we need to continue to renew and transform. In our Spirit we are just like Jesus and have all the faith, power, ability, everything that Jesus was is in our Spirit. That is great news.
Please keep us in your prayers in all these things.

Love you all and sending you blessings.

September 29

Wow it has been a busy couple of days, life changing days. On Sunday we went as a family to a festival that was here by a Christian evangelist from US. The girls had so much fun. We pulled out the stroller that we have not used in almost a year and it was new and exciting for them. Nicole C. Mullen was there are she was good.

On Monday I did something that I did not think that I would do again. I have agreed to teach Art at school again so that I can be around a bit. So I am teaching every class once a week. I had this great idea for each class to make a drawing and then paint it so that we can hang them in the school. Every class has been given a different Bible story and all of them are excited.

Monday night we went to Bible college and I was approached with a request that is going to change our family, ministry and lives. I was told that there is a 3 1/2 year old and a baby of 2 months who is with their mom's in prison, but need to get out of there. They have tried many places, but have not found anyone to take these babies. My first response was yes. The 3 1/2 year old will study in our school and eventually go to the boarding section of the school. For this term we will keep her in our house so that she can adjust. We are not yet sure about the baby if he/she will be released. We are going to the prison on Saturday and we are needing your prayers and support. This is another area of ministry that my heart is breaking for, but we want to be lead by the Holy Spirit in all that we do.

Will keep you all up to date on what will happen and look for pictures on Facebook of some of these things.

September 25

What a great day we had yesterday. We have been teaching on giving in the church for some weeks now and we decided to put it into practice. Instead of the leaders meeting on Friday we invited the whole church to come to our house. The only condition was that they were meant to bring something to give away. The reason was not to come to get, but to give what we could. And I know that it is true that it is better to give than to receive.

Every one went away with something in hands as well as tea and a bit to eat in stomach. The tea was from us, but we forgot to buy the bread. I am so thankful that God knows what we need and can call someone to fill it. Someone brought mandaze, a fried bread, that she made from home. It was so much better than just plain bread even.

David was given a new tie. Bright pink. He is trying to get the guts to put it on as it is really not his color. I will have to take a photo of him in it and send it this way.

This is just the beginning. We want to be a church that is giving away and continuing in giving.

September 23

I have been having this really big brain fart for days and just don't even know what to write here. People ask me how I am and what is going on and there is nothing to tell. Life is just like that right now I think. Maybe there is some thing that is going to be very big soon and this is the resting time before all that happens. I don't know.

I did have a great time at Bible College last night. We are studying the Holy Spirit right now and the worship times have just been great. I love it when you can just have time with God and not be interrupted by anything. That time is hard to find here at home with two soon to be 2 years old.

I have been cooking some good food though. Yesterday David bought some fish, which we have not eaten in I think over a year. But Abijah and Lydia loved it and wanted more and more. Today also I cooked a wonderful lunch of smashed potatoes and french beans, but the way that it was cooked was to perfection. However i was the only one at home to enjoy it, other then the girls.

I have made a decision to go back to school, that is Kampala King's School. As most of you know that some months ago I left the school as it was becoming too much for me to handle all the money and the stresses of that. This time I am jumping back in as the Art teacher. I have ever done this also in the first year of the school, 2008. I am starting on Monday so will have to get some time over the weekend to lesson plan and prepare. I am excited though. Then I know that I will even have many stories to tell here.

Well for not having much to say I thin that I have said a lot. Let me stop here for now and talk to you all later.

September 16

Had the most eventful day yesterday. Took a trip into town to meet up with my friend Nicole, the only thing was that David had other plans for the car so I was on my own. I have taken long with out traveling by public transport and have forgotten how exciting and adventurous it is. Had to stand on the side of the road waiting for a taxi to come and then bargain the price that I am not getting over charged, then climbing into the back over other people just to sit down. Of course there was traffic jam, but not for this taxi. Our driver knows roads that are not even roads, but we went any way. I thought that we were 4 wheeling. I have not been jarred like that in a long time. Then upon reaching town I had to sit on a motor bike as time was over and I was late. I have forgotten the rush of zipping through town on the speed of a motor bike, going the wrong way on a one way street, weaving in between cars at lightening fast pace. Well not all of that is true, but it sure felt like it. But I reached safe and sound just in the time that I was meant to. Had a great lunch and after walked the street of Kampala. Something else that I have not done since we have had a car. It was a good reminder of how the city is, but I like having a car, even if it is a bit old. I think that it has been one of the best blessings. Thank you Jesus.

September 14

Look what I have figured out how to do. I am so happy. I did not do it on my own though I had to ask for help from my dear friend Nicole. I am so happy that I have Nicole here. So there will be more pictures coming.

Want you all to know what is happening here and also that you can all be praying for us. We have had some sorrowful days here. Actually not days, but Sunday night was when we learned all these things. The first call that we received was around 6:00 pm From the family of the girl in the picture on the right. Her name is Benita and has two other sisters in our school. There father has been sick for some time and he passed away on Sunday. It is interesting because he was a Muslim, but had given his children to us to educate in a Christian way and just before he died he again asked that we will continue to teach and train up his children.
Then around 9:30 pm on Sunday we got a call from the teacher on the left picture, Teacher Phiona, that her father had died. It was a sudden thing and he was not sick so every one was surprised.
Yesterday, Monday, David went with the family of the student for burial. It was quite far from the city and he was gone the whole day, reaching home around 10:00 at night. Today is the burial for Teacher Phiona's father is today. However, I think that we will not be able to make it to that one as we are not knowing the village and have not been able to reach her on the phone as the network does not work in their village.
I ask you to keep these two families in your prayers as well as the school as a whole that there will not be a fear of who will be next.
Thank you all

September 10

I was so frustrated earlier. I had typed a long letter here and then it kicked me off the internet and it did not save. So I am going to began again.

Monday was the starting of school for the third term. The kids were so happy to get back to school because they have been passing the school compound and seeing some changes and wanted to partake in what all was going on. I am talking about the playgound equipments that are shining for all to see. The kids are loving them. We have built a wooden fence around the equipment as a boundary and they are only allowed to play there when there is a teacher present. This is a safty issue and it is working well so far.

There is one class that is even more happy than any other and that is Primary Four as they are having a new floor in their classroom. The floor had just crumbled and became like dust. It was not a good situation. The teacher had to come early and pour water down every morning to settle the dust a bit to study. She is so happy now and her class has become her baby.

The other big news that I have is about home. This is going to seams funny to some but not to me. I was cleaning the bathroom the other day and I droped the cover of the back of the toilet on the bowl of the toilet and broke it. If you go to facebook you will see photo. It is going to cost us like 200,000 shillings, that is $100 about to buy a new one and get it installed. I am so thankful that it did not break in a way that there is water coming out of it though.

Well I think that is all for now. I think that I am glad that I had to retype this because I think this is better than the first one.

September 5

I have forgotten that I have the world at my fingertips. I am sorry that I have taken so long with out writing. The best reason that I have is that I have had a bit of Malaria. Not too much. I think that I caught it a bit early and that has helped. On Tuesday I had some vomiting and everyone thought that I was pregnant. Then on Wednesday I had a headache and pain throughout my back. I could tell that this was developing into Malaria so I went to a pharmacy and bought some treatment. But on Thursday was the worst. I could not stand up or move without getting dizzy and feeling like I was going to pass out. Thankfully by Friday I was on the up and up. So that is my sickness story. The sad thing is that today David has started the same symptoms.
It was good that I was better by Friday because we have started a new ministry in the church and Pastor’s home is the hosting place. There is a teacher at school who is also so involved in church and has a huge heart for married woman, as she is one herself. There are so many women in the church that are young and many whose husbands are not born again and need the encouragement. She is excited to see this Woman Ministry began and so am I.
There is some thing else that I was wanting to share with you all and hope that you will laugh the way that we did. On Saturday night we went out to eat as a family for pizza just for fun. There on the table was a pile of napkins or as they call them here serviettes. We were in the middle of eating and Abijah asked “That one” to clean her mouth. Lydia thought that was also a good idea to clean up a bit so she said “Mommy, I want toilet paper”, pointing at the napkins. We were laughing so much and she could not figure out why.

28th August

My, my how time flies when you are having fun, is the saying. And it is true too. I have been having so much fun sewing up a storm. I am so tired by the end of the day and remember that this is also work. I am making uniforms for our children’s choir at church. I have so far made the patterns for two sizes of shirts and sewed five shirts. I could have had more done, but I have had to play house the past few days as we have given the house girl a few days off to go and visit her family. I have been cooking and cleaning in ways that I have not been doing for a while. I know that most of you are thinking that I am a baby if I am not keeping my house by my self. Life is so different here without the convenience of all the gadgets of western life. In other ways I am enjoying it though. I get to cook all the western food that I want and no one can stop me. Like right now for supper I am in the middle of cooking Sloppy Joes and French Fries, store bought and frozen. (My first time to buy like that, but I think that it will not be the last.) We even bought really America catsup. If you can’t tell I am just a little bit excited to eat. I just wish that I had an oven to cook the fries instead of frying them in cooking oil over a charcoal fire. It is taking forever.

25th August

Now that we are in holidays I am not so sure what to write. There is not that much going on right now. Yesterday we got a table for the sewing machine and now I have to get to work on all my projects. I have also desire to attempt to make egg rolls. I think that I am going to do that this morning and we will eat for lunch.
I am also working on updating photos and will very soon get some new photos online.
That is about all that I know for today. Just know that we are doing good.

20th Aug

Hello to you all. Yesterday was quite the eventful day. David left early for the village to attend to some business and I had the program to go to town and meet with a friend. I decided to go with Abijah, so we got in the car to go. I had just got down the road and there was some nice guys in white uniforms. If you have ever been in Uganda you will know that these are the Traffic Police. They stand on the side of the road and point to you and you have to pull over or else. So I was pointed at and had to stop. By the way I have never seen traffic police standing in this place in all the years that I have lived here. So he told me to get out of the car and come to see. This is something that we have been knowing for a long time, but trying to forget. Both of the front tires are bald and in a very bad state. We have been trying to see how we can get some extra money to replace them. Well in the end I got a ticket of 50,000/= ($25) and they took away my license. I have to go today to pay the fine and get my license. We are also going to see about getting new tires.
Well in the end, I had to go by public transport to town to meet Sasha and Abijah got the experience of sitting on a motorbike. The rest of the day was good. I had to get back home in time for church in the evening because David was away I was the one to preach. I am not a preacher though. I just taught.
So that is what is going on right now.

17th Aug

So today we are ment to begin the school holiday, but we have so much work that we are wanting to gwt done in this holiday that there is not even time to rest. David left early this morning to buy materials to finish the fence and there is also one classroom that is needed the floor to be re-cemented. These are the two biggest projects that we have. And they are not small work eather. I wish that Zach was here now to be helping with finishing these things because it would only take him like one day or two. We will see. We have only this week and then teachers are to be back for seminar and making lesson plans. The holiday is only three weeks and it will go so fast. I have spent the whole morning getting the house clean and things back in order. I think that we are all set now.
I took Abijah and Lydia up to school to play on the play equipment this morning also for just a short time. They love the slide, but were really fearing the seesaw. Once I put them on the merry-go-round I could not get them off again. They LOVED it. We are so blessed.
Have a great day and God bless you all.

16th of August 2010

This is the most beautiful day of my life. I am right now sitting in my sitting room and using the Internet. I know that for some of you, you will think that is no big deal. But let me tell you that this is the greatest thing that I can think of. Let me tell you the story.

On Sunday the 8th we had some very wonderful people come to see us here in Uganda. Their names are Karen, Mimi, and Kit all from Hong Kong. For Karen, this is her third year to be with us and for Mimi and Kit it was there first year. They were here for one full week and we were so busy the whole time. I am still overly tired for all that we were doing. However I am so thankful that we were able to do all that we did. On Monday night we took them to Bible College with us and they were so blessed to see that and know what we are a part of and what we are learning. On Tuesday we took a trip to the village and that is a long story in it self. I think that it was a new and great experience for them it be without electricity and water and see how David grew up. They were also able to bless the family by taking them a saucepan and some sugar and salt. We also threw in a few old jerrycans for carrying water. In return we came back with a taxi full of sweet potatoes, cassava, jack fruit, sugar cane, papaya, and many other good things. On Thursday they met teachers at school and helped with some ideas for how it improve the school. In the evening we had the church service, which is so different now because They came with an amplifier and microphones. What a huge blessing. On Friday we had the kids all come to school and had a field day with them of different games. In the afternoon we took a trip to town and did some shopping for the ministry. We bought all the text books that will be needed for next year adding on of Primary 7 and some others that we were needing. They also bought a generator for the ministry, for church programs and also so that children can have light to study at school instead of using a lantern or candles. And the last stop was maybe the best. This team came with the intention of blessing the ministry and one way that they wanted to do that was by buying playground equipment. There is a swing, slide, seesaw, climber, and a merry-go-round. On Saturday all of these things were delivered and installed in the compound of the school, to every ones excitement. We have had such a hard time to keep the children off of them so that the cement can dry and they will set well. Also on Saturday was the parents day and the official closing day of the second term. The parents were all so happy also. The teachers cooked special food for lunch and we all enjoyed. Then it was back to town to do some shopping for gifts to take back to Hong Kong. But we still had Sunday to get through before these visitors left. We had church in the morning, but combined the three services into one because we were making it a special day also. We did baby dedication of three baby boys. After the service we all got into a taxi, well I got to drive our car with the visitors, and we headed to the beach of Lake Victoria for baptism. There were 7 people from our church that were baptized and two others that we found there who also wanted to be baptized. After that, I took Karen, Mimi, and Kit to the airport and had to say good bye. So as today is Monday you would think that we would just have a day to sleep and rest, but no that is not the case. David is at school with teachers and that is a meeting that can last the whole day. I had to go to town early, but I bought this Internet and I am the most happy now.
Sorry that this got a bit long, but that is what happens when I am not able to write for so long. Just know that we will be here more often now that Internet is at my beck and call.
Love you all and thank you for the time that you take to hear what is going on.

12th Aug

Sorry Sorry Sorry. I have every reason in the book for not writing, but i am not so sure how good they will be. Actually I have been trying to avoid coming to the internet because my credit card was due and I knew that I did not have money to pay it. There is money now and I am free again. And feel so good that that is over.
Well I do have some great news and that is that Karen, Mimi, and Kit from Hong Kong have been here and we have had a great time. We were in the village on Tuesday and Wednseday. I have a lot to say but only a few minutes right now. They have brought us a notebook laptop and we are now going to work on getting the internet at home and them I will be having more time to write and even send photos. Please be patient with me.
Thank you all for your prayers and support. It does mean the word to us.

July 30th

I have been so busy that I have not had time to get here to the Internet. We have had a busy week. On Monday we had a team visit the school from Hong Kong. They came for the whole afternoon and we were all blessed. They brought many things for the children, even 150 pairs of shoes. It took some time, but got them all handed out on Tuesday. The one problem was that the sizes were not big enough for the older kids so we had to think fast. I remembered that we had been given tee-shirts from the Baptist church in Cook last year from the VBS and we had not found a good time to give them out. The kids were happy that they got something and we were happy that we were able to give something. We were also blessed by the team with a lot of teaching materials as well.
The other problem that we have had this week has to do with our house. The electric company came and cut of the power. Okay so we had not yet paid, but also they had delayed to bring the bill. It took three days for them to turn it back on. So frustrating. Thankfully that it is back now.
Time is over here at the Internet cafe and I can't write more now. Pray that we get Internet at home soon and then I will be able to write more and more often.

Monday 26th July.

I am sorry that I have taken so long to write. I am here today, but am not so sure about what to write. I have been so burdened in my spirit of late and am just trying to figure that out. God has put such a big dream in me and I am not seeing it come to pass, yet I feel like this is the time for such things. Every moment of the day I have such a longing to be carrying a baby or not even a baby but many babies. I have dreams of people dropping babies on my door for me to take care of, finding babies on the side of the road. God has given me such a heart for these babies who are abandoned and thrown away. I think of all the children out there that I could have right now and all that are needing homes. It breaks my heart. This is what is consuming all my thoughts and time these days. I just wish that it would come to pass.
The last time that I wrote I said that there was something that I wanted to write and I had forgotten what it was. We were robbed the other day. It was on Monday that David went out to get in the car to go to school. Then he calls me and asks if I know where the mats are for the floor. I did not. Then as he was looking he found that there were other things missing. Later Betty found a ladder propped on the side of the fence. We are so thankful that it was just things in the car and that there was not much left in the car like passport, camera, and phone. Those are things that David can leave in the car sometimes, but was not the case this time. God did spare us much. We have also gotten a good reminder that we need to be careful of our things and we have started to really pick up and put things away, including putting the car in the garage.
Please pray for us for protection and also that these dreams will come to pass in the right time and place.

July 20th

There was something that I wanted to write about and I have forgotten. I hate it when that happens.
We have started back to Bible College yesterday and that was great. It was good to see everyone again and also get back to the rotine of learning. I did not realize how much I was missing it.
We are also having a visitor right now who is praying about joining this ministry full time. She has just finnished her DTS and is looking where to go. She is a Rwandan and a single mother of a 5 year old boy.
This thing that I am not remembering is killing me and I want to remember. I will try again tomorrow.
See you

July 14th

Just want you all to know that we are all okay. As I think the whole word has heard at this point that there has been bombing in Kampala city. It happened on Sunday night as people were watching the World Cup. We were safe at home seeing how it was so late in the night to think of going out to see the World Cup from out of our home. It was not until Monday when I came to check my e-mail that I found out about what had happened from some mails that were asking if we were okay. Then I went home and watched the news and was shocked. It took place on the other side of the city and we have not known anyone who was there that is either killed or injured. We are just praying for this city and nation. They are saying that it was terrorists from Somalia, but this is also hard times for Uganda with the elections coming up next year. Please pray for this nation and the government as well.
Just stand with us at this time.

Monday July 12th

So now the FIFA world cup is over and Africa again can quiet down. It was such a big deal that it was in Africa and effected us here. David and I sat up and watched the last game and I think that is the only game that we watch all the way through, except for the times that we were falling asleep.
We had a great weekend. On Friday I got a message that Sasha, an old friend from Ukraine was back here in Uganda so I met her and also my dear friend Nicole and we spent the day at Garden City, that is a big shopping center here. I was also with Abijah and she went for her first time the play ground and slide. She loved it. Soon Saturday we bought some ground meat to cook. I have always been the one to cook this, so this time I gave to Betty (house girl) to try to cook and see how she would do. She first came and asked how we wanted it cut and was going to use a knife to cut the ground meat. So David told me that I need to go and show her what to do. So we went and just dropped it in the sauce pan. The next question was if we add water of cooking oil. In the end she did a great job. I think that next time I will just leave her to do it all on her own. In the afternoon we went to Nicole and Patrick's house for the first time. It was so nice to just hang out with them.
On Sunday David was invited to another church so I was left to preach or I think it was more teaching. We have been going through the material that we have learned at Bible College so it is some thing that I know and is easy to teach for me. I was thankful that David preached the first service and I was then left with only two services to preach. By the time that I got home I was so tired and hungry. It was good that the girls were sleeping and I was also able to take a nap.
So that was the weekend and now a new week has begun.
Love

Friday July 9th

So I have now made it a full week with out writing and I am sorry for that. The connection has been down at the cafe near home and today I am in town so that I can let you know what is happening.
On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday David and I went to Entebbe to a pastor seminar. It was a good time of refreshing. It was nice also to be near to the lake and I am always refreshed by that. There was four Korean Americans who where there sharing. The main point that touched me so, was how we need to just be in the love of God. That is all that God is asking of us. I know that I was challenged in this way and so was David. We get so caught up in ministry that we don't always take the time to just be children before God.
The other thing that has happened that is a bit big happened last Friday. We had a leaders meeting that was a bit serious. We are to the point that we are tired of leading the church by ourselves and even the church can't run very well like that. So we put people in different positions to see that the church can run on it's own. There are times that we are not able to be at church on a Sunday and we need to leave others in charge. We also found out that there are many people in the church who are wanting to preach and maybe one day have that title of a pastor. That will take time.
I have Abijah here with me at the Internet now and I am distracted and not able to write all that I want. I think that I will end here for today and see you later.

Friday July 2nd

Hello to you all. We are doing good. Just trying to get everything sorted now that it is the end of the month and a new one has started.
This past week has been the mid-terms at school. I have to say that these have been the best that we have ever done. Do you know that there are companies that make test and you just have to buy them? Not only that, but that it is cheaper then me having to type and print and then photocopy from 130 students. For those of you who have ever had to help me in this way I know that you will also be happy. There is not the stress of typing and the hours that takes. Then the time also that is spent at the photocopy. This is the greatest discovery of man. Even the teachers like this as they also are not having to spend the time to set the exams. This is such a good thing. I think that even the students like it, but it is also a bit more challenging as the exams are set but the national standard and not at a school level. It helps us though that we can see that our school will be up to the national levels and will also help us next year as we are adding Primary 7 and that is the final year in Primary. It is a year that will be on the child's record for life, so we want to have our school perform well. If the students perform well next year that will also help the community to see that we are a good school and will increase our numbers of students.
Well that is all that I have for today. And that is what has been going on. We are also thinking about buying a sewing machine and we start making our own uniforms as we have been disappointed by many tailors. Let me know what you think.

Wen June 30th

Hello. It has been many days and I have not been here. The first reason was that it was the weekend. Then I was planning to come yesterday and it got to be a crazy day. But first let me say a bit about the weekend.

On Saturday our house girl (Betty) was sick. That means that I was at home the whole day doing what most women have to do everyday. I cooked lunch of beans and posho (that is a food made from flour from corn). Also just trying to keep the house in order. David spent a lot of the day at school working on weeding and cleaning up the compound. That is a battle that never ends. That was about all of the day.
On Sunday was church, of course. And on this Sunday it was extra long. Pastor David was preaching about Water Baptism and why we are commanded to be baptised. By the way, I am not sure how many of you know that we are now having three services on Sundays. The first service is from 8:00-9:30 and it is only English, then the Luganda service that is from 9:30-11:30, and last is the Rwandan service that is from 11:30 to 1:30. This makes a full day, but we are able to meet even more people and that is what we are trying for. So yesterday in the Rwandan service there was one lady that had some misunderstandings of Baptism and we did not leave the church till 2:30 and we were exhausted. But like I told Mom when she called, it is not like we just get to go home at that point and rest. One of the boarding students was caught stealing 5,000/= and we had to solve that issue. After that our sister-in-law from Entebbe came to visit. By the time we reached bed we were ready for it.

So now let me tell about yesterday. We were invited to attend and David to preach in a conference. For me this was last minute news as I was waking up, but we went and it was good. We left around 8:30 in the morning and traveled just outside of the city, but on the other side of the city to a place called Seeta. There were two sessions, one in the morning and the other after lunch. In the first session David shared about how we can be blessed because of who we are and not what we have done. In the afternoon session, he preached about having a vision and dream and fulfilling what God has called you to. By the time we left we were so tired, him from preaching and me from sitting on a wooden bench the whole day, that we did not go to the crusade that they were also having. It was a long enough day for me. David loved every minute of it, and I am having to get used to it. He was letting me on the way home that this is what he would like to do more of. I have still a lot to learn about what it means to be a missionary I think.
See you later.

Friday 24th June

You can now see that I have taken the time to add a photo today. This is a picture of us harvesting Ground nuts or G-nuts as they are commonly called. (In America we call them peanuts.) It is a bit strange to think of harvesting in June, but I guess it is good too. It is now the dry season and everything is getting to the end of the growing season. This was my first time to see and harvest G-nuts, so I was enjoying. It was really easy too. Now we have to set them in the sun for awhile and let them dry and them take the time to de-shell them. That is what will take the longest time. Our maize (corn) is also over now, but it sure was nice to have fresh corn. The avocado tree that is in the back yard is almost out of avocados too. I hope that the rains will begin again soon so that things will start to grow again.

By the way, I love the house that we are in right now. That we are able to grow all these things. I am already trying to plan for the next growing season so that we will make the best use of the space that we have. I want to try onions and potatoes this next time, and maize and G-nuts again. If I can I even want to get some other seeds from town to try. We will see. Just waiting for the rain to start again.

Oh yeah, I was talking about how much I love the house that we are in right now. It is self contained meaning that we are the only house in the fence and that we have our own water and electricity. The only down part is that we are renting it and that we have to pay three months at a time. That is to happen in just a week and we are just praying that the money will come in time. I know that God is in control though and that is all that matters.
See you later.

Thursday 24th June

What a dreaded day. It was the day for deep cleaning of our bedroom. I am thankful that the rest of the house gets cleaned often, but the bedroom is always put off. I was there from morning to evening and it is shining now. I hate mopping though. I think that is the worst job in the world to do. The best part is that now we have a new arrangement and a change and I like that.

Then in the evening was church. We always have a mid-week service on Thursday evening of just an hour and a half. It was an interesting service too as we were learning about Water Baptism and asked for some testimonies of peoples experiences. On Sunday we will continue and help to clarify some of peoples thinking that are off on the subject. (Will say more on Sunday of this.)

Funny story. While I was cleaning and organizing the bedroom, the girls were around and playing. At one point there was an airplane that was flying over and Abijah went to the window and pulled open the curtain and said, "Uncle Zach, Airplane." I am still just amazed that she can be remembering my brother Zach who left here over a week ago. I think that she is missing him.

Wednesday 23th June

Today was an interesting day. For David he said that this day he had his greatest achievement. Now can you guess what that would be? We were driving to the Uganda Revenue Authorities and we saw a guy who was selling things that came up to the car. It was just a bunch of this and that, but one thing that David has been waiting his whole life for. It was a cutter for trimming the bushes. (Sorry I can't think of the name of it.) So he HAD to buy it. He asked how much and the guy told him that it was 20,000 shillings (about $10) and that was too much for David so he started to bargain and talked the guy down to 10,000 shillings (about $5) and it was then a done deal. That was my husband's greatest achievement of life. Not to mention that we were on our way to the Revenue and he got his Permit without any problems, which he has been waiting for for months. (A side note also, here the permit is the real thing. In America we call it a Licence but for here it is a permit.)
Well that was the day in short. I have had a hard time reaching the Internet today, but I just had to come and say hi.
Bye.

first day

Hello to you all. This is my beginning. Today I am just setting things up and we will see how this goes. Wait for tomorrow so that I can begin for real.
